Diwali is one of the most important festivals of Hindus, and it signifies the victory of good over evil. People of Gurgaon clean and decorate their homes before the night of Diwali. On the night of this festival, they put on their new clothes and light the traditional lamps called 'Diyas'. A ritual called 'Puja' is performed, during which, the entire family members offer prayers to Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. This is followed by lots of fireworks, a feast of delicious sweets, and a generous exchange of gifts between close friends and family members.
Diwali is also a great day for shopping in Gurgaon, as people buy new clothes and other items from shops and malls on this occasion. Tourists and business travellers staying in a hotel in Gurgaon during the Diwali festival can also have a wonderful time, celebrating this fabulous event with the local population.
